Mrs. Karen Rhoads, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Karen Rhoads is the Assistant Principal of the Upper Moreland Intermediate School. Raised in Willow Grove, she has always been a Golden Bear at heart. Mrs. Rhoads has been employed with the Upper Moreland School District since 2006 and has served as a teacher in the Intermediate School for the last sixteen years and most recently as an interim counselor in our Middle School.
Mrs. Rhoads graduated from West Chester University in 2003 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Literacy. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Counseling & Human Services from Villanova University in 2011 and is well-versed in trauma-informed instruction. In 2020, Mrs. Rhoads attained her Principal Certificate K-12 from Delaware Valley University in Doylestown where she did extensive research on implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
She has served as the UMIS Chairperson for the OLWEUS Anti-Bullying program and as Literacy Framework Leader (Grades 3-5). In the summer of 2021, Mrs. Rhoads served as a supervisor of our Summer Learning Program and was a contributing member of the district’s Supervisory Committee.
She is married and resides with her husband in Upper Gwynedd, PA. Mrs. Rhoads is thrilled to be working alongside Dr. Bair in this new administrative role and looks forward to serving the Upper Moreland Intermediate School and our community.
